The Blarney Stone is one of the oldest and most authentic irish bars in Amsterdam. Unlike most of the irish theme bars that litter europe and other parts of the world, the Blarney is the type of bar you'll find in most rural parts of Ireland. The owner, Paddy, comes from Tralee, co.Kerry and has lived in Amsterdam for many years, Little Paddy, the manager, from Kildare has also been here for a long time. The bar has been in existance since 1989. The staff are very friendly and come from various parts of the world. We are situated in the centre of the city, two minutes from central station, five minutes from Dam square and ten minutes from the red light district.
The customers
Our customers come from all over the world. A lot of our clients are tourists who find themselves at home in our bar. They know they can meet people who speak their own language. You'll find an aussie talking to a scotsman or a brazilian girl having a chat with a guy from Trinidad. On any night of the week you can talk to an american, south american, scandinavian, ethiopian or a kiwi. Most of our regulars (various nationalities) have been working here in Amsterdam for quite a while. We get our fair share or dutch people as well .They like to sample a pint of guinness or kilkenny too. Some people you meet might be a bit eccentric but you'll find them in Ireland as well.

Our drinks and food
In our bar we have most drinks you'll find in any bar in Ireland .On tap we sell guiness, kilkenny, magner's cider, murphy's red and a local lager. We have a large selection of bottled beers and alcopops.Behind the bar you'll see bottles of jameson, paddy, tullamore dew, baileys and powers. Our irish coffee is definitely worth a try. Every morning we serve breakfast from 10.00 till 14.00. we open from 10.00 till 1.00 during the week and at the weekend from 10.00 till 3.00.
Sports on tv
Very few people who walk into an irish bar have no interest in sports. We have a big screen and three televisions. You can watch premier league, scottish premier, american sports and boxing live on sky.On rte you'll be able to watch gaelic football and hurling and Ireland's international matches.Dutch, Spanish and Italian you can see on sport 1. We're really looking forward to the world cup this summer although unfortunately Ireland won't be taking part. So pop along and watch every match on the big screen.
